I am convinc that a bottom-up method, as Slack strives for, is not desirable from an organizational perspective. In order to make a serious impact with internal social mia, you as an organization really have to make choices – and then follow through on them.
That’s also the conclusion of a recent article in the Harvard Business Review with the provocative title “ Why No One Uses the Corporate Social Network .” Without leadership clarity and leadership, social tool adoption will be limit to a few enthusiasts. And if the first team is Slacking, the second is Facebooking, and the third is using Yammer, little of the intend knowlge sharing will come to fruition.
