Objective To measure SARS-CoV-2 RNA in wastewater from a low-income community to determine whether it can be considered an estimator of changes in the prevalence of Anguilla Email List in the population. Methods In this descriptive observational study, samples of surface waters contaminated with sewage were taken and a method of purification of viral RNA was optimized by means of the concentration of polyethylene glycol (PEG). The amount of genetic material was determined by quantitative real-time PCR using the Anguilla Email List method for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. Results Viral RNA from sewage-contaminated surface waters from a low-resource community was quantified and the temporal trends of SARS-CoV-2 in sewage samples were determined to reflect trends in active COVID-19 cases. . Conclusions Measurement of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in wastewater can be applied in low-income communities with no connection to sewerage as an estimator of changes in the prevalence of Anguilla Email List .
